19 labourers stranded in Lakshadweep arrive in Mangaluru

Mangaluru: As many as 19 labourers who were stranded in Lakshadweep island due to nation-wide lockdown following COVID-19 outbreak have been brought back to Mangaluru in a boat on Thursday, May 28.
The 19 workers, including three women, were brought to the old port here on a vessel named Amindivi”, official sources said.
Relatives and elected representatives were present to receive the workers. These workers had gone to Lakshadweep two months ago for various works.
With the total lockdown in the mainland, they were caught in the islands of Agatti, Kilthan and Kavaratti, the sources said.
Indian Coast Guard personnel extended their help to the boat carrying the workers, who were subjected to detailed health check-up on their arrival, they said.
