Puttur: Following the gruesome murder and tense situation, prohibitory orders have been clamped down in Puttur, Sullia and Kadaba on Wednesday.
Puttur subdivisional magistrate Girish Nandan M issued orders on Wednesday, imposing CrPC Section 144 from 6 am on July 27 till midnight on July 28.
The order said, the assembly of 5 or more persons in public places is prohibited. Carrying weapons, public processions are also banned.
Earlier, the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) gave a Bandh call in Kadaba, Sullia, and Puttur Taluks of the district on Wednesday.
Shops and other establishments were closed for business today in response to the bandh call. A Mangaluru-bound KSRTC bus was reportedly pelted with stones at Linet Junction in Puttur.
The victim Praveen Nettaru, 32, resident of Nettaru in Bellare was heading home after closing his shop Akshaya Poultry Farm late Tuesday evening when the unknown assailants hacked him to death, police said.
As soon as he was attacked, he tried to escape and ran but he fell down after a blow on his head, police said.
