2 BJP candidates move Calcutta HC, alleges fake cases filed to stop them from attending counting

On Monday, two BJP candidates and several party workers appealed to the Calcutta High Court, alleging that they were being targeted with false police cases aimed at preventing their participation in the vote-counting process for Lok Sabha polls.
Justice Amrita Sinha granted them the permission to file their petitions and assured that the matters would be addressed post 2 PM.
Jhargram’s BJP candidate Pranat Tudu and Basirhat’s Rekha Patra approached the vacation bench seeking a stay on FIRs filed against them, which they claim were lodged to obstruct their involvement in the crucial counting process scheduled for Tuesday.
Additionally, BJP workers from Tamluk, identifying themselves as counting agents, requested the court’s permission to file petitions. They, too, alleged involvement in false cases aimed toward their detriment.
The court has confirmed that these petitions will be considered for hearing after the lunch break.
