Even two weeks after the acid attack on a woman in Bengaluru, police have not been able to obtain any leads on the absconding accused.
On April 28, Nagesh was waiting in an auto for the victim near her workplace and when she arrived he chased and poured acid on her. The incident sent shockwaves in the state capital and the government assured free treatment for the victim and a suitable job once she recovers.
The victim is presently undergoing treatment at St. John’s Hospital and has undergone two operations so far, She has been kept in ICU for observation and her vitals are said to be normal.
Under immense pressure to nab the accused at the earliest, the police had formed 7 special teams who have even gone to neighbouring states in search of the accused. At that time Police Commissioner Kamal Pant had stated that the accused would be arrested by last Saturday.
Reportedly, police have detained around 20 people including the accused’s elder brother and parents for questioning in the case but have not got any leads regarding the accused.
Police said that the accused and victim studied in SSLC (class 10) in the same school. They gathered inputs that accused Nagesh was in love with the victim for 7 years and recovered a photograph of the victim from his house.
