20 children injured as school bus overturns

Kanpur: At least 20 children and the driver of the school bus they were travelling in were today injured after the vehicle overturned in Rasoolabad in Kanpur Dehat district, police said.
The bus carrying about 40 students of a private school in Kakwan overturned after the driver lost control over the vehicle, SP Kanpur Dehat Prabhakar Chaudhary said.
The children were students of class one to eight and between the age of 5 to 14 years.
Police rescued the children with the help of locals, he said, adding the bus driver was undergoing treatment as his hand got fractured.
Some 20 children suffered minor injuries and were taken to a primary heath centre. Later they were sent home after first-aid, he said, adding four among the injured were admitted to a government hospital in Kakwan.
The four children were later shifted to private hospitals by their respective parents, Pandey said.
The bus belonged to a private school which does not have accreditation
from the government, Kakwan Police station Inspector Dinesh Pandey said.
The investigation is underway and all the children are stated to be out of danger, the SP said.
