20 kanwariyas hurt in road mishap

Budaun (UP): As many as 20 kanwariyas were injured today when their speeding tempo fell in a ditch after hitting a truck in Binawar area here, officials said.

The mishap took place at around 4 am, the police said, adding that 20 persons were hurt. The injured were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where their condition is said to be stable.

Tension prevailed after the mishap as other kanwariyas moving on Budaun-Bareilly highway went on the rampage and set afire to the truck involved in the accident, locals said.

Further, they went ahead and damaged a number of other vehicles plying on the stretch. However, the police reached the spot within minutes and controlled the situation.
