20 tonnes of confiscated sand stolen from Hiriadka

Udupi: Around 20 metric tonnes of sand stocked at Hiriadka by mines department and geology department has been stolen.

It is said that the sand had been confiscated by the department and was in its custody. It was relating to illegal sand extraction from River Swarna near Baje dam area.

A case has also been registered in this connection against Dayanand Mallya and Ashok Jogi representing Yojak India who had extracted sand without permission.

Now, around 20 metric tonnes of confiscated sand has been stolen from the custody and the officials have filed a complaint with the police
