200kgs beef seized; 3 arrested

Belthangady: The District Crime Intelligence Bureau (DCIB) raided and illegal abattoir at Majal Adda in Belthangady, seized 200 kgs of beef, rescued 3 cows and arrested three persons on charges of illegal cattle slaughter on Sunday.
The arrested have been identified as Ibrahim, Arfak and Abdul. The police are also on the lookout for three other accused identified as Jabbar, Koti Abbas and Sammed who are presently absconding.
The police also seized an SUV, a Maruthi Omni and a autorickshaw in which the meat was stocked and transported. The estimated value of the meat id Rs. 50,000 and the rescued three cows are valued at Rs. 25,000, inform the police.
The DCIB team, led by Inspector Sunil Nayak, raided the illegeal abattoir at 6:45am and arrested the trio based on credible information from sources. A case has been registered under the Karnataka Prevention of Cow Slaughter and Cattle Preservation Act and Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.
