21-year-old killed by villagers after his bike hits an old man

Gulbarga: A 21-year-man was allegedly killed by the residents of Kallahangaraga village in Gulbarga taluk on Sunday for ramming into an old man with his two-wheeler.

The deceased has been identified as Ambareesh Poojary, aged 21, a resident of Javalaga village. The incident took place when Ambareesh and his friend Ningappa were riding back to their home from Kalaburgi town at around 9:30 pm on Sunday. When they were on the Kallahangaraga main road, they rammed into a 60-year-old man named Mallayya Kalaal. Ambaressh and Ningappa immediately called for an ambulance and Mallayya was taken to the local PHC.

The passersby saw Mallayya crying out in pain and the news spread around to the resdidents of Kallahangaraga. The residents’ includeing Mallayya’s family members gathered at the accident spot. They did not allow Ambareesh and Ningappa to pass and started beating up Ambareesh.

According to an eyewitness, the residents of the village allegedly beat Ambareesh until he was unconscious and threw him into a well located about 20 km away from the accident spot.

When Ambareesh’s parents found out that he was dead, they visited the Narona Police. However, the residents of the village allege that Ambareesh was trying to escape the beating and jumped into the well.

Presently, the Narona Police have registered a case and investigating further.
