Kundapura: As many as 25 members of BJP unit from Kundapura resigned from the party today.
It has been learnt that, some party members were happy after Halady Srinivas Shetty got a ticket at Kundapura constituency.
Among those who resigned were former president of Belve gram panchayat B Uday Kumar Poojary and Muchettu gram panchayat president Rajiv Kulal
A group of 25 men met Udupi BJP district secretary Kuthyar Naveen Shetty and submitted their resignations here today.
Addressing the gathering, they said, Halady had filed a false complaint against the BJP workers in Belve and Machettu. Even after winning as an independent candidate, Halady has not worked much for the development of his region. He has failed to respond to the problems of the people.
“We are deeply hurt by this decision, hence we are resigning from the primary membership of the party,” they said.
However, the group has clarified saying that they would not be joining any other party. “We will hold discussions with the people of Kundapur and decide on the future course of action,” they said.
