Udupi: Matsyagandha Express which began its service on May 1, 1998, marked its silver jubilee on May 1, 2023.
The Udupi Rail Yatri Sangh has decided to honor this remarkable journey in a unique way. On the day of the anniversary, the Matsyagandha Express will arrive at Udupi station at 3.48 pm, where a banner in support of the association will be hung in front of the engine.
Additionally, the two loco pilots and the guard of the train will be presented with flowers to express gratitude for their services.
Following this, sweets will be distributed to the attendees to celebrate this momentous occasion, as stated by Shekhar Kotyan, the association’s president.
The Matsya Gandha Express train is one of the most prominent trains connecting Mumbai and Mangalore, serving thousands of passengers each day. The Udupi Rail Yatri Sangh’s initiative to commemorate the train’s 25th anniversary is a fitting tribute to this vital transportation link, which has facilitated travel and commerce between these two important cities for a quarter of a century.
