28-year-old who opened fire at policeman arrested

New Delhi: A 28-year-old man who opened fire at a policeman at Brar Square in Delhi Cantt, injuring him, has been arrested, police said today.
The accused identified as Harsh is a resident of BudhVihar in Rohini and had been earlier sentenced to life imprisonment in a murder case of Palam Vihar police station, Gurgaon, in 2012 and was lodged in Bhondsi jail, Haryana for five years. He met gangster Rajesh Bharti in Bhondsi Jail, Gurgaon and after coming out on bail, he joined his gang.
He had opened fire at a police sub-inspector on January 23 when a police team tried to stop the Swift Dezire car he was in. Policemen got down from their vehicle and signalled the occupants of the car to stop when the accused short a sub-inspector on his thigh and managed to flee. A case was registered at Naraina police station and Ajay was arrested but the main accused Harsh could not be nabbed.
Later, on February 15, police received a tip off about the accused coming at Khaira Mod, Najafgarh laid a trap and arrested him. A loaded country made pistol containing three live cartridges along with a Desi Katta were recovered from his possession, police said. Police are now in look out for the rest of the absconding accused persons.
