3 arrested for bovine smuggling in Samba

Jammu: Three people were arrested in Samba district while trying to smuggle bovines in a truck to Kashmir, a police official said today.
The official said the truck coming from Kathua district was intercepted on a highway in Gagwal area. The driver tried to escape after seeing the police team but the three persons – from the Gujjar community – were arrested near Jatwal area.
During a search, 15 bovines being transported illegally were found on the vehicle, the official said.
A case has been registered at Ghagwal police station.
