A momo seller and a property dealer were among three people arrested here for allegedly trying to “extort” money from a family by posing as officials of power discom BSES, police officials said on Sunday.

They had threatened the Maharani Bagh-based family saying the BSES would file a case against them for using a residential power connection for commercial purposes, the officials said.

The accused had asked the family to pay a “fine” of Rs 12 lakh, they said and added that this was reported to police on July 10 and a probe was initiated.
