3 children drown while taking bath in Ganga barrage

Kanpur: At least three children drowned while taking bath in the Ganga barrage here today, police said.

Five children, aged between 12 to 15, had gone to take bath in Babupurwa area when they drowned, Superintendent of Police (west) Sanjeev Suman said.

Three bodies were fished out late in the evening while bodies of two children were yet to be located, he said.

According to eyewitnesses, when one child started drowning, others rushed to save him and they got trapped in deep water.

The three children were taken to Lala Lajpat Rai Hospital where they were declared brought dead, the police said.
