3 killed as tanker, jeep fall into canal after collision

Mandi: Three people were killed and one person was injured when a tanker and a jeep fell into a canal after colliding with each other at Sundernagar in Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi district, police said Wednesday.
The tanker was on its way to Leh from Ambala whereas the jeep was returning from Punjab towards Balichowki in Mandi, they said.
The driver of the jeep identified as Dile Ram jumped out of the vehicle before it fell into the canal and sustained serious injuries. He was admitted to the Sundernagar Civil Hospital.
Two of the three deceased persons were identified as Dharambeer and Chinta Mani of Thachi area in Mandi District, Sundernagar Deputy Suprintendent of Police (DSP) Taranjeet Singh said.
The tanker driver’s body has not yet been recovered, he said. The police have registered a case in this regard, the DSP added.
