300-400 street dogs to be vaccinated daily: Minister Prabhu Chauhan

Bengaluru: State Animal Husbandry Minister Prabhu Chauhan has said that around 300 to 400 street dogs in the city would be vaccinated daily.

Addressing the media on Monday, he said, “We have been receiving a lot of complaints of street dog attacks on the people of the city. It is understood that there are about three lakh street dogs in the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) jurisdiction. I’ll have a meeting with the BBMP Commissioner soon and will take a call on the situation”.

“Currently, around 240 street dogs are being vaccinated daily. In coming days, we have a goal of vaccinating around 300-400 street dogs daily”, he added.

Meanwhile, the minister said that the NGOs were co-operating with the government in tackling the street dog menace. He said that the government was currently giving relief amount from Rs 50,000 to Rs 1 lakh to the victim of street dog bites.
