32,786 DK students to face SSLC exams

Mangaluru: The 2017-18 year S.S.L.C. exams will begin from March 23rd to April 6th. Altogether 32,786 students of which 17,364 are boys and 15,422 are girls will be attending the exam from the district. Of these included are 28,966 school students, 2,263 school re-attempting students and 1,215 private candidates and 342 private re-attempting students.

Exam timetable:

  • March 23rd – First language
  • March 26th – Mathematics
  •  March 28th – English
  • April 2nd – Science
  • April 4th – Third language
  • April 6th – Social science

All the exams have a time limit of 2 hours 45 minutes. At the beginning of all the exams, 15 minutes will be provided to go through the question paper.

Dakshina Kannada district has 94 examination centres, in which 1448 rooms have been prepared to conduct the exams. Bantwala has 17, Belthangady 13, Mangaluru north 21, Managluru south 20, Moodabidre 4, Putturu 12and Sullia has 7 centres. For private candidates, 4 examination centres have been established within Mangaluru north jurisdiction. In view of the exams, police protection has been provided to the examination centres, all Xerox shops within the vicinity of the centres will remain close and loitering within the vicinity of the centres has been restricted by the district administration. Already a preliminary meeting has been conducted to review S.S.L.C. exam preparations presided by the district commissioner.

District level inspection force teams have been formed as per the requirements of the 94 examination centres spread in the 7 regions. 94 chief inspectors, 31 sub-inspectors and 94 custodians have been appointed.

The printers will covertly supply the question paper bundles to the Public Education Department in Mangaluru. To maintain the security, the question papers for Mangaluru north and south regions will be kept at the district treasury and the question papers for the remaining 5 regions will be kept at their respective sub-treasury offices. Block education officers of their respective sectors shall personally accompany the vehicle transporting the question papers to avert any leakage. The vehicles will also be escorted by the police.
