34,000 election violation cases in 25 days by RTO

Bengaluru: As many as 34,000 cases of election violation was registered in the last 25 days by the Regional Transport Office (RTO) in this election season.

Reportedly, the RTO officials have caught many drivers, including those of government vehicles and collected Rs 13 crore in 25 days.

The RTO officials had carried out drives and booked cases against vehicles from outside the state and from other parts of the state, plying on city roads, informed a senior official said.

“As more officers are present at checkpoints, we could collect Rs 13 crore in fines and tax amounts in just 25 days,” he clarified.

It is gathered that the highest amount of Rs 1,17,000 was seized from a vehicle in Mysuru which was carrying the cash without valid documents.
