Mangaluru: The voter’s decision on who should represent Dakshina Kannada district at the Union this time will be realized on Thursday and so will the political calculations since the last 35 days get a clear answer.

Altogether 13 candidates have contested in the constituency and the voting was held on April 18th. As many as 13,43,378 people casted their franchise and there was a voter turnout of 79.90%. During the previous Loks Sabha election, DK constituency was the first constituency to get its poll result. But this time five Voter Verified Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) have to be compared with the count of EVM and hence, the declaration of the results may possibly get delayed.

All prepared

The district administration has conducted all preparation for the counting of the votes at the vote counting centre at NITK Surathkal. The vote counting will be conducted in 115-18 rounds. 14 tables have been set for the counting of the votes per Legislative Assembly constituency and thus altogether 112 tables have been set for the purpose. Altogether there are 560 staffs including counting in-charge, counting assistant, micro observers and others.

Three phase inspection

Three level inspection has been set up for entering the vote counting centre. In order to provide the maximum security to the vote counting centre, temporary traffic diversion has been implemented in the vicinity of the centre.
