38 Illegal Sri Lankan immigrants arrested in Mangaluru

Mangaluru: Police officials have arrested around 38 illegal Sri Lankan immigrants in Mangaluru.
It is said that they were brought to India by an agent who promised them a job in Canada and took Rs 5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh from them.
The immigrants were planning to go to Canada via Tamil Nadu. But as there were elections in the state, they arrived at Mangaluru via Bengaluru.
It is said that they were staying in a lodge for more than a month.
The police received a tip-off from the Tamil Nadu Intelligence bureau, a team led by Police Commissioner Shashi Kumar and Deputy commissioner of police (Law and order) Hariram Shankar conducted an investigation and arrested the accused.
