Bijnor (Uttar Pradesh): A court here today sentenced four people, including a man and his son, to life imprisonment for killing a person over a land dispute last year.

District and Sessions Judge Subhash Chandra also slapped a fine of Rs 20,000 on Vijay Singh, his son Ashok and his accomplices Nepal Singh and Ghanshyam.

There was a land dispute between Narendra Singh, a lawyer, and Vijay, both residents of Jhalu town’s Chaudhriyan area, according to the prosecution.

Vijay and Ashok started construction work at the disputed land when the matter was pending in court, following which Narendra lodged a complaint at Jhalu police station, the prosecution said.

On June 2, 2017, Narendra and his nephew were attacked with rods and lathis by the four people. Narendra was declared dead at a hospital.
