Bengaluru: Days after levelling 40 percent commission charges against the state government, a delegation of Karnataka state contractors’ association on Monday met chief minister Bommai and urged him to take measures to check the rampant corruption.

The delegation led by association President D Kempana submitted a petition urging the government to do away with the package system of tenders and float separate tenders for all poblic works. This will benefit local contactors and ensure work quality, the petition said.

It was also urged to clear pending dues of contractors on the basis of first come first serve.

Further the association pinned the blame for poor quality of works on the state-run Karnataka Rural Infrastructure Development Ltd (KRIDL) and accused it of acting as a “broker”.

The petition also urged the CM to constitute a committee headed by retired judge to monitor government works of more than Rs 50 crore value.

Following the meeting Kempanna told reporters that the association has briefed the CM about various issues, including corruption and pending dues, faced by government contractors in the state
