5-day-old baby orphaned after parents die of Covid-19

Mandya: In a tragic incident, a five-day-old baby has been left orphaned after her parents death due to Covid-19.

The deceased couple are identified as Nanjundegowda (45) and his wife Mamata (31).

Nanjundegowda was admitted to a hospital in Bengaluru after being diagnosed with coronavirus. However he breathed his last a fortnight ago.

His wife Mamata, who was pregnant too tested positive for Covid-19 and was in home isolation. She was taken to a hospital here after she developed breathing problems. Mamata gave birth to a baby girl on May 11. Sadly, she too passed away on Friday evening leaving the child orphaned.

It is gathered that the couple had been married for nine years but were childless until now.
