Bengaluru: Five months after being appointed as KPCC president , DK Shivakumar will be taking oath at a mega virtual public meeting on Thursday, July 2.
The event will be held in the conference hall of the Congress’s office in Bengaluru. Arrangements have been made for other leaders and party workers to watch the proceedings through Kannada channels and social media at 7,800 locations.
DK Shivakumar, the controversial, yet charismatic leader of the Congress had been appointed as the Karnataka Congress president five months back and tasked with bringing the party back to power in the next Assembly elections.
Shivakumar’s earlier plans of oath taking were thwarted by the BJP government in the state, citing pandemic guidelines over political gatherings. But after he threatened to go ahead with his virtual “Prathigna Dina” , irrespective of whether the government grants him permission, CM BS Yediyurappa relented and ordered the officials to allow the ceremony.
