5 upcoming Tulu movies to watch out for

The Tulu film industry is booming with new films releasing one after the other. The industry is blessed with a loyal audience who flock to theatres to watch the latest flick produced in the local language. 2018 looks like a good year for Tulu filmmakers. Recently ‘Appe Teacher’ hit the screens and became a huge success. Here’s a guide to the Tulu movies that’ll hit theatres soon!

Pettkammi:

After making its mark with its viral music video ‘Dennana Dennana’, ‘Pettkammi’ is the talk of the town. The movie revolves around a bunch of people setting out to prove that there are illegal activities taking place in a mysterious location that has been closed off from the public due to supernatural activities. Think of it as a Tulu myth-busters. This thriller movie has got its audience waiting. The team is yet to announce a release date.

Ammer Police:

Director K Suraj Shetty is back with another comedy. This would be the third one produced by Lakumi Cine Creations. It will have Roopesh and Pooja Shetty in the lead roles. Suraj Shetty also directed the hit ‘Pilibail Yamunakka’.

Pammane the great:

Ismail Mudushedde’s family movie ‘Pammane the great’ involves itself with the Nethravathi campaign in a way everyone understands. The film revolves around 3 girls named after Tulunadu’s rivers, Nethravathi, Shambhavi and Nandini. Aravind Bolar plays a prominent role in the movie. Director Ismail Mudushedde says, “It has everything – Sentimental elements, Comedy, Social messages etc.”

Katpadi Kattapa:

This movie has been generating a lot of buzz since Abhinaya Chakravarthy Kiccha Sudeep is himself going to grace their audio release with his presence on Sunday, April 29. The movie is going to be J.P.Tuminad’s debut as a director. He describes it as a ‘complete entertainment new age Tulu film’.

Kambalabettu Bhatrena Magal:

‘Kambalabettu Bhatrena Magal’ is a bilingual movie releasing in Kannada and Tulu. As the title suggests, it has a female-centric plot. The film introduces some new faces like Lavanya Kotian and Rashmitha Changappa. It took the team around 7 months auditioning several people to find these new talents. Director Sharath S Poojary states, “The movie is simple and natural with strong subject related to the power of women.”

The official release dates for the movies are yet to be announced.
