550 cartons of IMFL seized in Bihar

Muzaffarpur (Bihar): Altogether 550 cartons of India Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) were seized from a truck by excise officials in Muzaffarpur district today, an official said.
Acting on a tip off, an excise department team raided Marwan village and seized the liquor valued about Rs one crore from a truck this morning, Excise Superintendent Deenbandhu said.
The cartons were kept under several bags carrying potatoes, he said. The team arrested the driver and the cleaner of the vehicle.
As per the Bihar Prohibition and Excise Act 2016, if any person imports, transports, manufactures, possesses, stores liquor, he shall be punished with minimum imprisonment of eight years which may extend up to 10 years besides fine which may extend to Rs 10 lakh.
