Bengaluru: Union Home Minister’s medal for excellence in the investigation will be awarded to six Karnataka Police officers including three of those who investigated the sensational Gauri Lankesh Murder Case

It is gathered that a total of 96 police officers from across the country have been named to be awarded the Union Home Minister’s Medal for Excellence in Investigations for 2019 which includes six officers from Karnataka.

Three officer who investigated Gauri Lankesh case are IPS Officer M.N Anucheth, Dy.SP Rangappa and CPI Raju, they will be awarded the medal in a ceremony on August 19 in New Delhi, informed sources

The other three officers from Karnataka to receive the award are Dy.SP Ravishankar, SP Jhanvi and CPI Sathish.

Journalist-activist Gauri Lankesh was shot down at her residence on September 5, 2017, and the SIT probe into the case not only uncovered a large conspiracy behind the murder, but also helped security agencies across the country to solve two other murder cases in Maharashtra.

The State government later transferred the probe into the M.M. Kalburgi murder also to the SIT, after the case had gone cold with the Criminal Investigation Department. The SIT has cracked that case as well and is set to file a charge-sheet by the end of this month.
