Bengaluru: A six-year-old girl was killed after drowning in a water sump in Srigandha Nagar in Rajagopal Nagar near Peenya late on Thursday evening.
The deceased has been identified as haripriya, a class 2 student of Governemnet School. She was the daughter of Devendra and Anjali. The family hailed from Tamil Nadu and was working as labourers in the city from the past one year.
Devendra had returned to his hometown in Tamil Nadu along with their son after the couple quarrelled over an issue. Anjali and Haripriya were living in Bengaluru. In front of their house in Bengaluru was an 18-feet deep open sump from which Anjali used to draw water for various purposes.
On Thursday, when Anjali was drawing water from the sump to wash clothes, Haripriya wanted to go near her mother. As she went near her, she lost balance and slipped into the sump and died.
