Byndoor: A day after a 7-year-old girl student got washed away in a stream while crossing the footbridge at Bijamakki, Udupi Deputy commissioner (DC) Kurma Rao visited the spot of Kalthodu village and reviewed the situation.

On August 8, the victim, Sannidhi, a class two student studying at Government Higher Primary School at Chapparike was returning home after school when she slipped and fell into the stream. Owing to the water current in the stream she got washed away

The locals drew the DC’s attention to the lack of basic facilities in the village and stressed that school-going children face difficulty traversing through the streams.

The DC directed the disaster management force to ensure safety.

Byndoor MLA Sukumar Shetty said that already instructions have been issued to construct a minor bridge at the spot where the mishap took place.
