Mangaluru: As many as 70 persons belonging to various Pro-Hindu organizations like Bajrang Dal, Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Sri Rama Sene were arrested by the city police for violating the sec 144 which is in effect in the district.
According to the prohibitory orders in effect in the district, people are not allowed to assemble or protest against the celebration of Tipu Jayanti today. However, BJP’s minority leader Franklin Monteiro came alone to protest and he was detained by the police. Later Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad activists including Sharan Pumpwell came with black flags and were also taken into custody.
This was followed by a wave of Sri Rama Sene activists who were also detained by the police.
