An 84-year-old man from Bihar was caught before he could take the 12th shot of the Covid vaccine.

Yes, you heard it right! Brahmadev Mandal, a resident of Orai village of Puraini police station under Udakishunganj sub-division of Madhepura district claims to have taken 11 doses of the vaccine.

Mondal, a retired postal worker, even kept a meticulous note of the date and place he took the jab. As per his claims, Mandal took his first vaccine shot on February 13, 2020. Thereafter, he regularly took 11 jabs till December 30 at several Primary Health Centres, media reports said.

When asked why he took so many doses, Mandal answered that he took them for their “beneficial effects” on him. “I benefitted a lot from the vaccine. This is why I have been taking it repeatedly,” India Today quoted him as saying.

While many in India are still to receive their second shot, Mandal getting 11 doses has raised many eyebrows. Questions are being raised about the system of vaccine disbursement.

Meanwhile, the administration has scrambled to find out how a person could hoodwink the system to such an extent. Mandal had allegedly submitted his Aadhaar card and his phone number on eight occasions and used his voter ID card and his wife’s phone number on the other three.

The civil surgeon of the Madhepura district has now said that the matter will be thoroughly investigated, reports said.
