Madikeri: The forest department successfully drove back into the forest the group of 23 elephants which were seen loitering around Chettalli, Minukolli and other villages.
The group of elephants containing 5 calves seen moving around the villages caused much fear amongst the villagers and in the backdrop of the villagers demanding that action be taken against the wild elephants, the forest officials tagged one of the elephant in the group with a radio collar.
On Saturday, as the antics of the wild elephants had increased, the forest officials conducted an operation based on the information provided by the radio collar. The elephants were safely driven to the reserve forest via Chettalli, Minukolli, Valnuru, Tyagatturu and Dubare at Kushalnagar.
