A man born with golden spoon won’t understand poverty: Modi

Bengaluru: PM Narendra Modi on Tuesday attacked Congress president Rahul Gandhi saying one who is born with a golden spoon could never understand the problems of poor people and significance of Swachh Bharat. 

“When I had talked about Swachh Bharat and building toilets from the Red Fort, the ‘Naamdaars’ taunted me. The individuals who are born with a golden spoon can never comprehend the troubles of poor people. We are resolved to serve poor people and would keep on doing so,” he said. 

Tending to an open meeting, Modi about a small girl from Koppal district, Mallamma, who resorted to hunger strike for a toilet in her house about whom he had talked in his Mann Ki Baat in 2016 and had in this way supported the Swachh Bharat in the nation. 

“I am glad that lakhs of our girls like Mallamma have demonstrated the way to the whole nation,” said Modi, including that toilet isn’t only a facility however is nearly connected with the dignity of ladies who either used to wait for the sunset or relieve themselves before sunrise.

“The toilet coverage in the nation before 2014 was just 40 percent except following four years of hard work by our governance and endeavors put in by our girls like Mallamma, we have raised the scope to 80 percent of the homes the nation over.” 

Modi said the BJP trusts in “Rashtra Bhakti” and serving the general public not at all like the Congress whose lone concern is one family. He was indicating at the Gandhi family that has given three Prime Ministers since Independence with Rahul Gandhi being the fourth era running for the post in 2019. 

“Our lone mantra is ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikaas’. In any case, for the Congress party, advantage of just a single family means the world. They run a government and cut down a government for the family. They can go to any degree – separate brothers and nation – to come to power.” 

The Prime Minister said former BJP Chief Minister of Karnataka, B.S. Yeddyurappa, began a battle for the state’s development however the minute the Congress government came in, it halted every one of the works began by him and began giving priority to people on caste basis.

“After May 15, when Yeddyurappa frames the government in Karnataka, he will spread a system of cooperatives in the state that would offer loans to women at one percent interest rate up to Rs 2 lakh,” Modi said as he recorded down different plans to help young women, farmers and tourism.
