A year after love marriage, woman commits suicide by consuming poison

Puttur: A young woman committed suicide by consuming poison at her husband’s house at Herebandadi, Uppinangady here on Tuesday, January 1 morning.

The deceased, identified as Divya Poojary was employed at a textile shop at Puttur. She had entered into wedlock with her lover about a year ago.

It is gathered that Divya who had been to her paternal home had returned to her husband’s house on December 31. The very next day she attempted suicide and later informed her husband’s family members that she had consumed poison. She was immediately rushed to a hospital where she passed away in the afternoon.

The reasons for Divya to take such a step is not yet known.
