Abandoned by son on highway, elderly suffering from Alzheimer dies of cardiac arrest

Dharwad: A 76-year-old man, who was allegedly abandoned by his son on National Highway-4 on the outskirts of Dharwad city passed away at the orphanage in the district civil hospital on Saturday, October 27.
The deceased Vincent Christin died owing to a cardiac arrest, informed doctors.
Vincent had been admitted to the orphanage here, on Thursday, after locals who noticed him wandering aimlessly on the roads intimated the police. At the hospital, it was found that Vincent was suffering from Alzheimer’s.
Local Christian organisations, on coming to know of Vincent’s plight had visited him in the hospital in a bid to trace his family. It was while conversing with them that Vincent developed chest pain and suffered from a cardiac arrest.
District civil surgeon Dr Giridhar Kuknoor informed that since there is no one to claim his body it has been kept at the mortuary of the hospital.
