In a remarkable turn of events, a 32-year-old woman who was abducted 17 years ago in 2006 has been found alive in Delhi’s Gokalpuri area.
The shocking discovery came to light when the Seemapuri Police Station, acting on secret information, successfully located the woman on May 22. The case had originally been registered under section 363 IPC in 2006 at Gokulpuri Police Station based on her parents’ complaint, an ANI report said.
According to DCP Shahdara Rohit Meena, the woman, now 32 years old, had been living with a person named Deepak in the village of Cherdih, District Baliya, Uttar Pradesh, after leaving her home. However, during the course of the investigation, she revealed that she had left Deepak’s residence during the lockdown following a dispute. She subsequently found rented accommodation in Gokalpuri and began living there.
The discovery of the woman after such a long period of time has left authorities astounded. An investigation is underway to uncover the details of her abduction and subsequent years.
DCP Shahdara Rohit Meena further revealed that the Shahdara district has achieved significant success in recovering missing persons and victims of abduction. In 2023 alone, the district has recovered a staggering 116 kidnapped or abducted children and individuals, along with 301 missing persons. This commendable feat highlights the dedication and relentless efforts of the local police force.
The news of the woman’s rescue has brought renewed hope to countless families who have lost loved ones to abduction or have been searching for missing family members.
