Academy awardee Attavar Shivananda Karkera no more

Mangaluru: Renowned Tulu, Kannada litterateur Attavar Shivananda Karkera passed away on Wednesday, October 7.
Karkera had authored ‘Eru Mainde’ play, for which he had been honored with the academy award.
A student of Tulu MA first batch, Karkera had organized many Tulu programmes and was the founder vice president of ‘Yakshangana’.
He had retired as an officer at Syndicate Bank and was also the former president of Gokarnanatha Cooperative Bank.
