Ballari: Molakalmuru MLA Sriramulu on Tuesday took the responsibility for the defeat of BJP candidate and his sister Shanta in the Ballari byelections.
Speaking to press persons here after the results were announced Sriramulu said that the Congress candidate VS Ugrappa emerged victorious because the coalition Government had a strong hold in this constituency.
“The defeat in Ballari constituency in the bypolls is a clear set back for us. Our workers worked really hard for the elections. I bow to the people’s verdict. The people might have rejected us for certain reasons, we accept it,” he said.
He further informed that this defeat of BJP will not have any impact on the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
The Ballari bye-election had turned into a bitter battle between the BJP and Congress party. The Congress big wigs were seen campaigning for Ballari byelection candidate Ugrappa.
