Mangalore: Animals play an important role in our lives. Some research studies have found that people who have a pet have healthier hearts; stay home sick less often, make fewer visits to the doctor, get more exercise, and are less depressed. Pets may also have a significant impact on allergies, asthma, social support, and social interactions with other people.

Over the years Animal Care Trust (ACT) has been receiving such encouraging feedback from people who have adopted either a puppy or kitten from them. Thus, motivating them to regularly organize camps where puppies and kittens are put up for adoption. While on one hand, these camps serve as a good platform for people to find their pet companions, on the other hand, it gives new lease of life for the puppies and kittens as they find their forever homes.

One such adoption camp will be organized on Sunday, November  11 2018, at Pallavi’s Boww & Meow Pet Shop, Hasan Heritage Building, Near Fr Muller Hospital, Kankanady, Mangalore from 10.00 a.m to 5.00 p.m. Over 25 puppies and 15 kittens will be put up for adoption during the camp.

While no adoption fee is charged, ACT only collects a nominal registration fee of Rs 200 that helps in covering the basic medical expenses incurred. Potential adopters are requested to bring a valid Photo ID for registration. After the adoption process is complete, ACT will keep in touch with the family for regular updates about vaccination and sterilization.

About ACT

ACT came into existence on 30.03.2000 in order to provide care and shelter to stray, sick, and abandoned animals. ACT has been promoting adoption of Desi breeds, as we often find that desi breeds are subjected to abuse and abandoned. These dogs forage for food on the streets, where they face threats to life from traffic and humans.
