Four officials of the postal department have already been taken into custody related to the drugs bust case,” Home Minister Basavaraj Bommai said.
Speaking to reporters, he said drugs have affected not only the film industry but also many others. Currently, we are searching for the root of the drugs network. We have already cracked the Darknight website.
The State’s police have made great strides in the case, though it is difficult to pinpoint where, when and how much drugs are being supplied. The nationals of many countries, including Canada and Nigeria, who supply drugs from abroad, have been arrested, he said.
The Narcotics Control Bureau has arrested a few synthetic drug dealers, including a woman. The CCB has also raided many places. Indrajit Lankesh was given notice on Saturday. Let’s see what information he gives. We have told the CCB to conduct a thorough investigation into the case. We will not spare any culprit even if they are from the film industry, he added.
According to sources, a list with over 15 Kannada artists have been prepared based on the statement of Anika, the main accused in the drug supply case, for inquiry. The names include three actresses, three actors, one music director and television actors and children of some wealthy individuals. Officials have refused to divulge their names.
