Mangaluru: Many social activists in the Dakshina Kannada district are considering the option of going to courts to stop the change in name of the airport here.

It was reported that the city’s international airport will be renamed as Adani Airport after the company managing its operations.

The activists group had complained to the Airports Authority of India regarding this which had sent a notice to the airport.

Additionally, the activists are seeking legal opinion intending to file a public interest litigation in the courts against the name change.

Weeks earlier there was a debate in the district to change the name of the airport to folk figures Koti Chennayya or other notable personalities from the Tulu Nadu region.
