Actor Ramesh Aravind, two others to be conferred honorary doctorate by RCU

Bengaluru: Sandalwood actor and director Ramesh Aravind and two other achievers will be conferred the honorary doctorate by Rani Channamma University (RCU) for outstanding achievement in the cinema industry, on September 14.

Addressing the media on Monday, September 12, Vice Chancellor of Rani Channamma University, M.Ramachandragowda said, “We had received 15 applications for the honorary doctorate out of which we have chosen three. Actor Ramesh Aravind and Akka Annapurna Tayi of Basava Seva Pratisthan, Bidar will be conferred with Doctors of Letter for outstanding achievement in the cinema industry and for service rendered in the socio-religious field, respectively. For social service, V Ravichandar will be conferred with Doctor of Science”.

“The honorary doctorates will be conferred during the event of the 10th Convocation of Rani Channamma University on September 14. The programme will begin at 12.30 PM in the Suvarna Soudha. The chief guest of the programme will be the Governor of Karnataka Thawar Chand Gehlot. State Higher Education Minister Dr Ashwath Narayan will be present during the programme. Vice Chancellor of the Central Tribal University of Andhra Pradesh, T.V. Kattimani will be addressing the 10th Convocation programme”, he added.

Meanwhile, he informed that around 43,607 students have graduated from the RCU out of which 11 meritorious students will be awarded gold medals and 48 students will be awarded PhD degrees.
