ADGP inspects Mudipu site for central prison, official quarters

Bantwal: Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order-ADGP) N S Megharikh on Tuesday, visited and inspected the site near Mudipu coming within the limits of Ira and Karnadu village where a central prison and officials quarters will be constructed. He also inspected the blueprints of the projects.
He discussed with the officials and collected feedback on the required facilities to quickly start the work on the project. Police commissioner T R Suresh, SPDM Laxmi Prasad, DCP Uma, ACP Srinivas Gowda, District Prison Superintendent Chandan, PWD engineer Umesh Bhat were present.
Since there is a lack of space and security at the old prison in Mangaluru, a central prison and official quarters has been planned to be constructed on a 64 acre land belonging to the Industrial Development Corporation located in the limits of Ira and Karnadu villages. The structures will be built at the cost of Rs 250 crore and will have the capacity to hold 1,000 prisoners. It will be built as a planned model jail. Also blueprints have been prepared for the creation of official quarters in its vicinity. In the first phase, the prison will be built at the cost of Rs 100 crore post which the official quarters will be constructed.
