Adobe Photoshop plans to preview its technology that will tag mutlimedia content with cryptographically signed data such as locations, time stamps, and who captured or edited it.
According to The Verge, The research is specifically designed to spot edits made with Photoshop’s Liquify tool, which is commonly used to adjust the shape of faces and alter facial expressions
The system will only be as effective as the number of companies and organizations that adopt it. To make a dent against all the misleading images shared online, camera manufacturers, software developers, social media networks and media outlets will need to adopt the standard.
The move comes as a part of Adobe’s Content Authenticity Initiative (CAI). Adobe will release the technology in a preview release of Photoshop this year.
