Bengaluru: Contending that a five-day work week will help boost the work efficiency of the state government employees, State Minister for Social Welfare Priyank Kharge has urged the Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy to mull implementing the policy in the state.

In a letter written to the chief minister, on August 29, Kharge highlighted that the Centre had successfully adopted the five-day work week several years ago, thereby ushering efficiency in the workflow of its employees.

Further, he suggested that the government could make up for the extra holiday so granted by reducing the number of government holidays.

He even mooted the idea of allowing employees to choose their public holidays based on the religious practices they follow.
