Adyarpadavu clash: 8 arrested

Mangaluru: City police have arrested eight people on charges of rioting and assault during Vijayotsava, at Adyarpadavu, on the night of May 15th.

Addressing media on May 18, Friday, City Police Commissioner Vipul Kumar informed that the arrested are Naushad alias Naufal, Dawood alias Dawood Hakim, Junaid alias Mohammed Zunail, Shahul Hameed, Harish Poojary, Nishanth, Abhishek and Nithesh.

The arrested will remain in judicial custody till May 30th.

Right after election results were announced, a clash between two political party workers left around seven people injured at Adyarpadavu on May 15. Following the incident, police registered six cases under various sections of IPC.

The police commissioner has warned that strict action will be taken against anyone engaging in rioting and damaging property of religious institutions.
