African Swine Flu case confirmed in Madikeri

Madikeri: A case of African Swine Flu disease has been confirmed at a village here.

The case was detected on a pig farm.

Deputy director of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services, Dr. Suresh Bhat informed that strict measures are in place to prevent the spread of the disease to other places.

Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services department here informed that the 1 km radius from the affected place has been declared an African swine flu-affected area and 10 km radius of the pig farm has been declared as a disease-vigilant area.

The officials have also further directed the pig farm owner to cull and bury the pigs in a scientific way. The pig farm should be cleaned and sprayed with anti-disease infusions.
