In August, compact cars have reigned supreme in sales.
Maruti’s Swift, Alto and Wagon R have grabbed the first, second and third ranks. Alto clocked more than 40 lakhs total units sold in August.
Hyundai i10 Grand is the fourth on the list.
The other compact segment gaining ground is the compact SUV segment. Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos have taken the lead here.
Hyundai sold more than 11,000 units of Creta, launched immediately before the lockdown began, in August. It became the fifth highest-selling in the same month.
While Seltos lost the spot to Creta by just 1,003 units less sold in August.
However, Kia broke records as being the only carmaker to have clocked sales of 1 lakh in less than 11 months since starting operations – the fastest ever in the Indian automobile industry.
