Mangaluru: After a brief illness, Yakshagana Bhagavatha Agari Raghurama (84) passed away at his residence at Surathkal on Sunday. He is survived by 4 children.

Raghurama was a veteran Bhagavatha of Thenku Thittu tradition and is considered as the link between the old and new generation.

He was born to Agari Srinivas and Rukmini couple on February 7, 1935 and had his intermediate education at Vidyadayini Institution at Surathkal and at St Aloysius College. As his father was also a Bhagavathike, young Raghuram was also attracted to it and taking his father as the guru, he learnt the art win the ‘Agari style’ which was invented by his father and thereby played an important role in carrying on the tradition.
